Ensoniq Es1370 Audiopci Driver For Mac
Quote Malvern, PA., February 24, 1997 - ENSONIQ Corporation today announced production shipments of the AudioPCI S5016 board, a breakthrough in sound technology, performance, and price for the PC. AudioPCI technology puts sound and wavetable MIDI music on the PCI bus in both Windows and DOS. The AudioPCI ES1370 chip set and S5016 sound board exploit the power of the PCI bus, and enable MMX systems to be compatible with legacy DOS software without additional circuitry. Taking advantage of PCI bus speed, it eliminates the costly wavetable ROM and allows the use of system RAM to hold MIDI sounds and results in a solution cost equivalent to FM. ENSONIQ is shipping AudioPCI with 2, 4, and 8 megabyte wavetable instrument sets available from its extensive library of over 5000 sounds from around the world.
- Dec 8, 2009 - Short answer: windows7 has no builtin driver for es1370. This sound card as even on the creative site there is no driver for xp / vista in 64bit.

The ES1370 chip manages resources on the PCI bus and provides compatibility with ENSONIQ's OTTO synthesizer and all other hardware standards. ENSONIQ AudioPCI architecture provides compatibility with all DOS mode games, thus protecting the end-users' software investment. Existing software and games for the PC have been designed to run on ISA based sound cards. To function properly, those cards must write directly to the inherently slow ISA hardware using the interrupt controller (IRQ) and Direct Memory Access (DMA) signals. These signals are not present on the PCI bus, but AudioPCI allows legacy software to function as if the ISA signals are present and at the full speed of the PCI bus. 'Compatibility is of primary importance,' said Albert Charpentier, President, 'No sound card can succeed in the marketplace without the ability to play all existing software.' The techniques employed by AudioPCI are so unique that ENSONIQ has applied for a patent on the process.
Good Luck! I think you will find (google it) every site that says they have it you will have to pay for 'driver Detective' software or other.
Using the PCI bus allows a 4 to 20 times increase in speed over much slower DMA transfers on the ISA bus, and therefore places a low overhead on the system. No PCI to ISA bridging is used. AudioPCI technology allows the implementation of ENSONIQ algorithms for reverb, chorus, and dimensional enhancement via the host processor (and MMX when present).
The AudioPCI S5016 PCI add-in board can support four speaker surround sound. The AudioPCI solution is fully compatible with Microsoft's DirectX-3D sound specification. The ES1370 along with the AKM 4531 CODEC provide total solution that occupies less than four square inches of space on a motherboard. The AudioPCI solution is low power and will work in 3 volt applications and laptops. The AudioPCI S5016 has achieved audio quality levels in terms of signal-to-noise ratio in excess of -90 dBr.
The boards are manufactured on a modern surface mount line, and tested to professional standards in ENSONIQ's facility in Malvern, Pennsylvania. The S5016 is expected to have a street price of about $75, yet offer the feature set of boards in the $249 range. AudioPCI solutions are available now in production quantities and will shortly appear in several major OEM systems and motherboards. For over fifteen years ENSONIQ has served the professional musician with high quality wavetable synthesizers, keyboards, and digital effects processors. ENSONIQ's ability to design custom integrated circuits allows it to produce quality and technology that is unparalleled in the industry. Its Multimedia Division is now producing its sixth generation sound product for the PC, and serves a significant OEM customer base. ENSONIQ's sounds and integrated circuits are used in arcade machines, karaoke equipment, POS terminals, 3-D amusement rides, as well as recording studios and musical instruments.
So I got my Ensoniq ES1370 in the mail the other day (without driver CD - thanks alot eBay seller for your 'uninstalled' card) - it works fine in Windows 2000. I've tried downloading the 'Driver' (Ensoniq AudioPCI) from the Creative website. Double click, it 'updates' the driver database. I reboot, Windows 98 has a 'Found New Hardware' moment. I select 'Creative' then 'Ensoniq AudioPCI.' Of course, it starts asking for files from the 'Creative Ensoniq AudioPCI Disk' - and you expect me to have that?
I thought I just installed a driver for this!?!?! This card is supposed to be compatible. I've also tried 'AudioPCI Legacy' from the menu.
It doesn't ask for files, but gives a 'Code 2' error in Device Manager, as well as trying ALL the Soundblaster choices. And Yes, I've searched the ESS Drivers list too.

Any suggestions? According to this (and from my own recollection, as I DO have it 'stored' somewhere) - You SHOULD have downloaded 'epw9xup.exe' and should ALSO need a '2mb Waveset for AudioPCI cards'. (for MIDI support) IF that's what you downloaded, the it SHOULD have worked. That 'package' should be a simple compressed Installer that can be decompressed with (eg) WinZip, WinRAR, or 7-Zip so WHAT is within that 'package'. Scratch all that. The TomsHardware instructions are still valid but the links to the software are here - Pick the Win98 SE one and the files that are listed (according to the SIZE in the TomsHardware link) should be what you get.
You MAY have picked the wrong one (the FIRST one)? Follow the instruction in the TomsHardware link and get JUST THOSE and try again. To keep this Topic connected - Looking for your 'solution'.
Edit - HOW did you get a '404'? Did you go to the Creative link I provided? I just downloaded the Wave 'eapci2m.ecw' right-clicking the 'download' and opening the link in a NewTab/Window, clicked 'Agree' and there it was! Side note - downloaded the FIRST one as well as the 'suggested' one (from TomsHardware link), unpacked it and it APPEARS to have all you need. Edit2 - try these.
FIRST do 'safe mode' and Uninstall any 'Sound Card' stuff that's related to 'Creative', 'Ensoniq', 'SB', or 'SoundBlaster' and LEAVE THE REST! HTH (note - found based on Ensoniq Website on WebArchive filenames) Edited June 28, 2013 by submix8c. Still get a 404 error - File not found (screenshot below for your convenience). At this link: Now, I should correct an error made below: The only waveset I can attempt to download without 404 errors is the 4mb waveset.
When you unzip, you get the.ecw file inside - which is what you place inside your Windows System folder, correct? The other issue seems to be in Safemode, even with a dodgy 'driver' installed (for the wrong card), you cannot find any evidence of sound hardware, except the onboard stuff.
Restarting, Windows 'alerts' you it has found a 'new' PCI Multimedia device. Do I skip this and.just. run the 'driver' installation program, then skip the prompts made by Windows for the new hardware again or am I supposed to do something?
I ask this, as it seems if you actually do something (and select the newly created 'Ensoniq AudioPCI' from the Creative list, you are prompted for the Driver CD - which I don't have, and is why I downloaded that file in the first place) - note that checking out the 'ESS' menu shows no sign of an 'AudioPCI' or 'ES1370' - just ES models higher/lower than mine. Edit It seems in one of the files I've tried downloading recently (from elsewhere) 'ES1370wdm,' I have the 2mb waveset.
I will attempt to run this installation program and see where it goes from there, though if I specify the driver in there to Windows via the 'New Hardware' wizard, Windows grinds to a halt - almost during startup. The moving line at the bottom jerks along every 5 seconds or so and Keyboard response time is poor.
I'm not sure if it would make it, and haven't been patient enough yet to let it run through with that particular driver. I'll have a 'looksee' and see what I can do on that front.
Edited June 28, 2013 by nostaglic98. Still not working. Apparently, the installer cannot detect any 'Creative' or Ensoniq hardware onboard. I snatched some files from the Temp folder before the installer deleted them, and installed the driver inside those folders (As an Ensoniq AudioPCI Legacy device, then update the driver to the one supplied). System hangs after reboot, and I need 'administrative' privileges to access where you would install the wavesets.
So it seems my device is something inbetween the two companies! I might have to try installing as a regular AudioPCI just to get the installer to work or try installing the drivers onto a Soundblaster driver. I should that No BIOS settings should interfere: Windows 2000 on the same machine works FINE with the card (no drivers needed, either - and they also claim I don't have appropriate hardware for the drivers installed!) Edit - Here is 'what else' is on the Soundcard.
It says: Ensoniq 9720 - plus some numbers that seem to be different depending on the card: E375607. Main chip on board says 'AudioPCI ES1370.' Edited June 29, 2013 by nostaglic98. 'audiopci 64v' you' find some WDM drivers that MAY also work. Note that the Mixer/MIDI 'should' still work with it.
Basically, I'm saying it's worth a shot to get WDM drivers installed instead (better) and should be that bad to 'unstall' and reload.SIDE NOTE- Don't bother right now. Have been looking and none look 'quite right'. Stick with what you have (VXD as opposed to WDM).
At least it's working. Ennyhoo, THAT is what you REALLY have. Edit - some info (Wiki) - edit2 - AHA! Here's the one from Gateway that I have (instructions and how-to get) - Noteworthy - IF the one you used allowed for a 'Joystick' in the Devices, then BEFORE using it, take note the the INF file inside the Extracted Package has a set of 'Only For Retail' that is used to install it (like the one you have) and must be uncommented (all lines that are obviously Instructions and NOT real Comments).
The lines have a semi-colon and you have to move the cursor in front if that line a press 'DEL' to remove the semi-colon, then save it before actually running the Install. Same package, just newer files/versions.
(Yours is Win95, this one is Win95/Win98). HTH Edited June 30, 2013 by submix8c.
